Sausage Tree Training CampThe Sausage Tree Training Camp

The Sausage Tree training camp is situated in the Olifants West Nature Reserve, part of the Balule Nature Reserve and Greater Kruger. The unfenced boundary with the Kruger National Park ensures that the full range of game species, including the Big-5, roam the property.

Directions

From Johannesburg and Pretoria – approximately 5,5 hours drive time

  • Take the N4 eastwards toward Belfast and turn off into Belfast.
  • The Sausage Tree Training CampIn Belfast, turn right at Belfast Toyota onto the R540 to Dullstroom.
  • Proceeed through Dullstroom and continue to the T-junction at Lydenburg.
  • Turn left into Lydenburg along the R36 and continue until you see the sign to Ohrigstad.
  • Turn left into the main street of town (De Klerk St).
  • After a few blocks turn right onto the R36 to Ohrigstad.
  • Proceed through Ohrigstad and the Strijdom Tunnel and down the escarpment in to Hoedspruit.
  • Proceed through Hoedspruit town and at the T-junction turn left to Phalaborwa on the R40.
  • After 16,5km the Gate to the Olifants West / Balule Nature Reserve will be on the right.
  • The Sausage Tree Training CampPay R60 entrance fee at the gate and proceed straight down the gravel road for 3km (a fence will be on the right hand side).
  • Turn left into Sable Road (where the fence stops) and continue for 1km until you see the Sausage Tree Camp sign on the left.
  • Follow the short road to the camp.

From Nelspruit (Mbombela) – approximately 2,5 hours drive time

  • Take the R40 through White River to Hazyview.
  • Proceed through Hazyview and continue on the R40 through Bushbuck Ridge to Hoedspruit.
  • At the turn-off into Hoedspruit town, continue straight.
  • After 16,5km the Gate to the Olifants West / Balule Nature Reserve will be on the right.
  • Pay R60 entrance fee at the gate and proceed straight down the gravel road for 3km (a fence will be on the right hand side).
  • Turn left into Sable Road (where the fence stops) and continue for 1km until you see the Sausage Tree Camp sign on the left.
  • Follow the short road to the camp.
