The focus of the average safari is obviously the great outdoors with all the wonders of its fauna and flora and the areas frequented therefore don’t often allow for much else in the way of culture, history, or varied scenery and attractions.
Having come a long way to Africa, it is a shame that many visitors leave the continent with very little experience of anything else other then airports, wildlife and a quick overnight in a city hotel!
A great way to make the most of your visit is to plan for a few days before, after or either side of your safari to enjoy the other attractions that the region has to offer – very often for surprisingly little effort and cost in relation to the rest of the trip!
These safari ‘extensions’ also have the following advantages:
- Pre-safari extensions are often a good way to gear up to a safari by allowing time to acclimatise and recover from jetlag before the rigours of the safari schedule.
- Post-safari extensions enable one to wind down after the safari, allowing time to recover from the early mornings, long days and too much food, prior to heading home.
- Short extensions designed with this in mind and with a view to complementing the safari experience are offered on all safari itineraries.
- Tailor-made extensions can also be arranged should none of the standard extensions suit your needs.
