Details of this Safari

Ngorongoro CraterYour Arrival

You will arrive in the evening and overnight in Dar es Salaam. On arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel for the night. If you are traveling with a Private Guide, you will meet him at the airport on your arrival.

Where to from here

Depart early morning for your shared charter flight to the Selous Game Reserve (the largest in Africa) where you will spend 3 nights exploring the game-rich area to the north of the Rufiji River.

After a short morning activity take a shared charter flight westwards along the southern safari circuit to the remote Ruaha National Park and spend the next 3 nights exploring this picturesque area with its baobab-studded countryside and awesome game viewing along the Great Ruaha River.

Continue westward with another shared charter flight towards the shores of lake Tanganyika and the Mahale Mountains National Park where the next 3 nights will be spent trekking in search of chimpanzees. The stay starts with a dhow trip southwards along the eastern shore of the lake to reach your camp. No game drives are undertaken here but besides the once daily chimp treks (visitors may only spend 1 hour per day with the chimps), other activities to be enjoyed include primate and forest bird-watching walks, kayaking on the lake, and dhow fishing trips.

Depart Mahale on a shared charter flight in an easterly direction to Manyara at the edge of the Great Rift Valley, from where you will undertake a road transfer to your lodge at the Ngorongoro Crater. This World Heritage Site and what is often referred to as the ‘eighth natural wonder of the world’ will be home for the next 2 nights with a full-day excursion to experience the amazing wildlife spectacle on the crater floor being the highlight.

After a leisurely morning, return to the Manyara airstrip by road for your shared charter flight to the famous Serengeti National Park. Spend 3 nights in this area renowned for its ‘endless plains’ and the great migration of over 1.5 million animals.

On your last day you will return to Dar es Salaam or Arusha, depending on where your evening International flight home departs from. If you have been traveling with a Private Guide, he will bid you farewell at the airport.
